Planet Argon’s Lead Evangelist Robby Russell was recently interviewed by Bob Zurek of the EnterpriseDB’s Database Radio podcast. The discussion covers topics ranging from our usage of PostgreSQL and Ruby on Rails to best practices for developers and open source communities. The podcast is now available to listen to online.

Robby and his Rails expertise are highlighted in a CRN breaking news post about the addition of REST to the recently released Ruby on Rails 1.2. Several members of the PLANET ARGON Core Team traveled by train from Portland, OR to Chicago, IL for RailsConf 2006. Twelve other Rails developers from Washington, California, Arizona, Colorado, and Canada joined the team on The Argon Express. The trip took two full days and you can find photos on the flickr gallery.

We are very excited to announce that Jeremy Voorhis, PLANET ARGON’s very own Lead Architect, has signed a deal with leading technical book publisher, O’Reilly Media. Jeremy will be writing Rails in a Nutshell, part of the popular Nutshell series. This means that PLANET ARGON has not one, but two authors writing books about Ruby on Rails! Congratulations Jeremy!

Be sure to check out the one of the latest Ruby on Rails Podcasts, recorded in Vancouver BC at the Canada on Rails conference earlier in April. Jeremy Voorhis and Robby Russell, both speakers at the event, had a chance to sit down with Geoffrey Grosenbach to discuss PLANET ARGON development practices, projects, deployment, books, and our involvement in the the Rails community.

Amy Hoy, Ezra Zygmuntowicz and Jeff Casimir are putting together a unique Rails workshop May 20th and 21st in Washington, DC. The two-day workshop is geared toward beginning and intermediate developers. The cool part of the workshop is that the speakers aren’t taking any pay: 100% of the proceeds are going to benefit the César Chávez Public Charter School where Jeff teaches. They are raising funds to improve technology access and usage throughout the school.
